Hans Hermann Behr papers

Scope and content This collection documents the activities of Hans Hermann Behr during his employment at the California Academy of Sciences. The completeness of the papers was compromised when a massive fire destroyed the collections of the Academy during the aftermath of the earthquake of 1906. The materials described herein represent what was saved onsite, or retained offsite, during the fire.

The bulk of his records were repatriated to Sweden after Eisen's death, however some records by and about Eisen were accumulated by the Academy to make up this collection. Scope and content The collection is composed of G. Dallas Hanna's correspondence, photographs, and research papers. There is a significant amount of materials pertraining to Hanna's work in Alaska with a some focus on the 1964 Alaska earthquake. Other focus areas include malacology, diatoms, and Alaska fur seals. The collection contains a considerable number of photographs and glass negatives.
